Quote of the day

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend ...

Quote of the day

The best possible solutions come only from a combination of rational analysis based on the nature of things, and imaginative reintegration of all the different items into a new pattern, using non-linear brain power.
— Kenichi Ohmae, The Mind of the Strategist

Radically Human – Keine erfolgreiche Strategie ohne Mensch

Quote of the day

Truth. Beauty. Excitement. Signifiance. Persuasion.

A scientist ... is supposed to be looking for the truth about nature. But not all truths are equal. Some we call deep truths, and these are the ones that are also beautiful. An idea must be more than right - it must also be pretty if it is to create much excitement in the world of science. For the search of truth is not simply a matter of discovering facts. You must also understand their significance, and then persuade others that your way of looking at them is valid. It is always easier to persuade people to believe in something new when they find it beautiful, especially if it runs counter to their established beliefs.

Documentary: The Archive

“The Archive,” a seven-minute documentary focused on Paul Mawhinney, the owner of the world’s largest collection of records. Numbering over two and a half million, the vast majority of his collection can’t even be purchased anymore. Due to health issues and a struggling record industry Paul is being forced to sell his collection. It’s quite a fascinating window on an individual, as well as on the state of phonographic records in general.

Quote of the day

Strategy can be awfully boring. The consultants can be straighter than we academics, not to mention the planners. Everybody is so serious. If that gets us better strategies, fine. But it often gets us worse ones - standard, generic, uninspiring. Strategy doesn’t only have to position, it also has to inspire. So an uninspiring strategy is really no strategy at all.
